Mini and Major Projects
Here’s a list of Projects where I worked and gained my professional experience.
Cold Boot Attack
In cryptography, a cold boot attack is a type of side channel attack in which an attacker with physical access to a computer is able to retrieve user's specific sensitive information from a running operating system after using a cold reboot to restart the machine from a completely "off" state. The attack relies on the data remanence property of DRAM and SRAM to retrieve memory contents which remain readable in the seconds to minutes after power has been removed.
It has been known since the 1970s that DRAM cell contents survive to some extent even at room temperature and that retention times can be increased by cooling. In a 1978 experiment , a DRAM showed no data loss for a full week without refresh when cooled with liquid nitrogen.
Machines using newer memory technologies tend to exhibit a shorter time to total decay than machines using older memory technologies, but even the shorter times are long enough to facilitate most of the attacks.
Mini Project 1
Wifi hotspots are very common now days. Laptops and PDAs use these hotspots to access the internet as these devices have Wifi facility built into it. But mobile phones do not have Wifi facility in them. Nokia is releasing some models with Wifi, but still those models are costly. But lower end models also come with Bluetooth now. So its a better idea to create a Bluetooth hotspot where Bluetooth mobiles can access the internet.
With this technology mobile phones need not have a GPRS connection or even a SIM card in it to access the internet. This project has two parts. A client application and a server application. The server application runs in a normal PC with Bluetooth dongle. This PC acts as the gateway to the internet for the mobile. The mobile will host the client application which will connect to the server application in a hotspot environment and provide the mobile with internet access.
Bug Tracking System
Mini Project 2
Bug tracking systems are a tool used by software developers to enhance the quality of their software products. The automation that bug tracking systems provide allows for efficient monitoring and controlling of reported bugs. Generally bug tracking systems allow developers and testers to add bugs to a database, provide details about the bugs in the database and make updates to the bugs as progress is made. Along with these features there also features that allow bugs to be assigned to specific developers. This allows for allows for developers to use the bug tracking system as a to do list when the development cycle enters a maintenance stage. Finally bug tracking systems allow for the bugs that are entered into them to be prioritized making critical bugs easier to find in the database.
Here’s what people are saying about me.
Sushma Reddy has been working with me on a major research project that involves collecting data on the firms’ strategic orientations. I have been fortunate to have her on this project because of her attention to detail, reliability, and intelligence. She is also a very nice person with very good communication skills.
Sushma Reddy has proved to be an invaluable resource for me, as she takes on every task with willingness and good humor. I appreciate all of the help he has been able to give me this year in presenting at paper at IIM Calcutta.
Sushma Reddy has been instrumental in moving this research project forward. She has shown dedication and creativity in helping collect the data and in designing how to make sense of the data
